DeleteI stumbled upon your blog from Pinterest and am HOOKED! I love it. My oldest son, just turned 4, has had sensory issues from very early on. He had occupational therapy and speech therapy because he was a bit behind. He has blossomed SO MUCH, but one thing we still struggle with is eating habits. It's AWFUL. It's so hard not to beat myself up over how little he will eat. Literally, other than junk, he will *sometimes* eat chicken nuggets, peanut butter and jelly (only the frozen Uncrustable ones), cheese sandwich, french fries, mini-corndogs.. And even none of that is really healthy. We struggle with even getting him to TRY things... I know if I could get him to try it, he would like a good bit more. He used to love macaroni, now he won't touch it. He eats NO vegetables other than french fries. The only fruit he will eat is a banana and an apple. I try bribing him to taste "just ONE BITE" of food, but it never works. Do you have any tips or suggestions?!?! I'm one desperate Momma!
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea...so glad you stopped by via pinterest!Eating habits are so frustrating aren't they...i have had a lot of struggles with my Ruby and it is still a constant battle but i do feel as though we are making progress...she is beginning to try new foods but i so understand how you feel as it can be very depressing trying to keep them to eat something different.it sounds like your little one is a lot like Ruby in that he likes crunchy things....i hated giving her that sort of food but it was all she would pick up...it is a real texture thing for them...so i began to make my own crispy patties and include meat and vegies in different ways...they have been a big success and you will find them in my 'toddler food' posts. This post might also prove helpful..http://mummymusingsandmayhem.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/15-strategies-to-encourage-spd-toddlers.html It has lots of tips and suggestions and a few links to sites i have found helpful. Good luck....i know it can be a tough journey but you are definitely not alone!
